Hormones & Reproductive Health
Menopause
Menopause happens when you have gone twelve straight months without a menstrual cycle, with the perimenopause years often bringing hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, low libido, weight changes, and mood shifts.

Common Symptoms
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Irregular or skipped periods leading up to the final cycle
- Sleep disturbances or waking unrefreshed
- Vaginal dryness and reduced libido
- Weight gain, especially around the abdomen
- Mood changes such as irritability, anxiety, or low mood
- Brain fog, difficulty concentrating, or memory lapses
- Fatigue or low energy
Likely Root Causes and Contributors
- Natural shifts in estrogen and progesterone as the ovaries slow down
- Extra strain on the Hormone Circuit, especially the adrenals and thyroid
- Chronic stress and high or unstable cortisol
- Blood sugar ups and downs
- Gut changes and slower digestion
- Inflammation and detox slowdown
- Induced or premature menopause from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or early ovarian failure

Patient Pain Points We Often Hear
“I’ve gained so much weight and no matter how well I eat or exercise, it won’t come down. My cholesterol has even started to creep up and I’ve never had high cholesterol in my life!”
“I’m tired, achy, more on edge, and it feels like my body is reacting differently to everything, even though I’m not doing anything ‘wrong.’”
“Watch out husband, because I feel like a different person. I’m irritable and angry, and I don’t like this person that I’ve become. ”
Our Approach to Healing
How We Map, Treat, and Sustain Real Recovery from Menopause with the LAM Method™
When you are going through menopause, the last thing you need is a complicated plan. Our approach to healing uses the three phases of LAM Method™: Learn the Why, Address the Root, Maximize Longevity. Here’s how we use the LAM Method™ to address Menopause:
Phase 1 of LAM Method™
Learn the Why of Menopause
At Lam Clinic, we look at menopause through the NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) Stress Response so we can connect the dots between your hormones, stress load, metabolism, inflammation, and sleep.
We start by clarifying your pattern and timeline, including when symptoms began, what changed first, what triggers flares, how sleep is holding up, and whether fatigue, weight changes, anxiety, or heart symptoms showed up alongside cycle changes.
Here are the tests we may consider
- 4-point cortisol test
- Complete thyroid panel
- Reproductive hormone testing – Estrogens, Progesterone, FSH, LH, Testosterone, DHEA
- Baseline blood panel and advanced lipid panel
- Inflammation Markers
- Toxin Testing
These results help us decide whether lifestyle support is enough, or whether you may benefit from options like Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and how to approach it more safely.

Phase 2 of LAM Method™
Address the Root of Menopause
When your system is already stressed, aggressive plans can backfire. We take a steady approach that helps your body feel safer, sleep better, and handle hormone shifts with less intensity.
Lifestyle Foundations
- Cooling strategies for hot flashes such as breathable bedding, layered clothing, and avoiding triggers like caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods. Learn more in How to Deal With Hot Flashes: Medications, Herbs, and Natural Therapies.
- Support vaginal comfort with regular vaginal moisturizers and water or silicone based lubricants. See Natural Remedies for Vaginal Dryness for additional tips.
- Strength-focused movement like walking and resistance training to support metabolism and help manage menopause-related weight changes. Our 30 Day Weight Loss Challenge offers practical guidance.
- Blood sugar–balanced meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fats.
- Simple stress regulation tools such as breathing exercises, yoga, or meditation to support mood and sleep. Explore more in Menopause Symptom Management: Research-Backed Options.
Targeted Supplement Support
We introduce supplements slowly and adjust based on your symptom pattern and sensitivity level.
- Evening Primrose Oil to support hormone-related breast tenderness and skin comfort, and to help some women feel more balanced
- Magnesium to support calmer mood, better sleep quality, and muscle relaxation
- B vitamins to support energy production and nervous system resilience during stress
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
When appropriate, BHRT may be considered as part of a personalized plan to help restore more stable hormone levels during menopause.
BHRT may help support more stable energy, improved sleep, clearer thinking, and better temperature regulation, while also supporting bone, metabolic, and overall hormonal balance over time.
BHRT is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is integrated with lifestyle, nutrition, and stress support so your body can adapt more smoothly and sustainably.

IV Therapies
For patients who require additional support, we may incorporate:
- IV Nutrient Therapy
- IV Ozone Autohemotherapy
These therapies may help support energy production, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, and improve nutrient delivery during menopause, which can help stabilize hormone signaling and ease symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, and hot flashes.
They may be considered when oral intake is limited, nutrient needs are higher, or additional support is needed during more depleted phases, always introduced carefully to avoid triggering symptom flares.
This information is educational, not a prescription. Your actual plan is always individualized, adjusted slowly, and refined based on how your body responds.
Phase 3 of LAM Method™
Maximize Longevity
Once things calm down, we help you keep your progress:
- A simpler routine you can actually maintain
- Check-ins and labs as your hormones continue to shift
- A clear plan for flare-ups during stressful seasons
NEM Response Circuits
How Your Body Regulate Stress
Your body handles stress through six interconnected circuits. When even one is out of balance, symptoms can show up in your heart, hormones, energy, and more.

Take the QuizFrequently Asked Questions
Can Lam Clinic help with menopause, and what makes your approach different?
Yes. We evaluate menopause through the NeuroEndoMetabolic (NEM) Stress Response, looking at how stress physiology, hormone shifts, metabolism, inflammation, and detoxification interact. This whole-body view helps explain symptoms that standard care often overlooks and allows us to support menopause in a more personalized, balanced, and sustainable way.
What is the average age of menopause?
Most women reach menopause around age 51. It is considered menopause once you have gone 12 months in a row without a period.
Can menopause start early?
Yes, it can start before 45 due to genetics, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or primary ovarian insufficiency. If your cycle changes suddenly or stops early, it is important to get checked.
Is HRT safe?
HRT can help many symptoms, but it has risks that depend on your age, health history, and timing. We use bioidentical hormones when appropriate, at the lowest effective dose, and monitor you closely.
Can I get pregnant during menopause?
You can still get pregnant in perimenopause while you are having periods, even if they are irregular. Once true menopause is reached (12 months with no period), natural pregnancy is extremely unlikely.
Do men go through menopause?
Men do not go through menopause in the same way, but testosterone can slowly decline with age. This “andropause” can affect energy, mood, libido, and body composition.
How long do menopause symptoms last?
Symptoms vary, often lasting a few years, though some linger if stress circuits stay imbalanced. Supporting those circuits can make the transition smoother.
Do you offer virtual visits and where are you located?
Yes, we offer secure telehealth care worldwide and in-person visits in Tustin, California. We serve patients across Orange County, including Irvine, Santa Ana, Orange, Costa Mesa, and Anaheim, as well as individuals throughout the United States and internationally seeking personalized hormone support.

The Lam Family has helped thousands recover from fatigue and stress for years.
Using advanced diagnostics and whole-body care, the Lam family looks beyond routine labs to uncover the real reasons behind fatigue—like adrenal stress, hormone imbalance, and nutrient depletion. Then, they create a personalized plan to help you heal fully and feel like yourself again.
The Pioneer of Root-Cause Healing & Whole Person Care
Before adrenal fatigue was widely understood, Dr. Michael Lam, M.D. led the way—developing one of the first clinical approaches to diagnose and treat it. His bestselling book, Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome, became a lifeline for patients around the world. Today, his children—Dr. Carrie Lam and Dr. Jeremy Lam—carry that legacy forward, building on his foundation with advanced diagnostics and whole-person care for lasting recovery.
